Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
We're celebrating 20 years this year, 2017, and we have to thank Hurricane Fran in 1996 for clearing out the space for C'est si Bon!
What is your primary product or service?
Our mission is 3 fold: teaching culinary techniques, developing student's palates, and encouraging gathering around the world table.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I grew up in an ethnic and food-centered house and acquired degrees in both culinary arts and education but it was a unique combination of elements that led to the opportunity to found and develop C'est si BON! There was Hurricane Fran, of course, but also our young sons and their friends who were always curious and hungry and willing to get in there and cook, so that's really how the kid-chefs program, and every other program, began.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
All our cooking classes and Team Building events are hands-on. We also incorporate our working garden, laying hens, honey bees, shiitake mushroom logs, Meyer lemon, key lime, and bay leaf trees into our teachings.
citrus trees,
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have our home base in Chapel Hill/Carrboro but we also offer Taste the Adventure Culinary Travel Programs for Teens and Families in Southwest France, Barcelona and select US locations (coming soon, the Colorado Rockies and the wine-growing area around Walla Walla.)

What type of payments do you accept?
Credit cards accepted on-line. Call for other arrangements.
Which areas do you service?
Quite literally our students come from everywhere, some return tobus from outposts like Shanghai, to attend kid-chefs every summer.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
My husband, Rich, and I own the company and our oldest son, Erick, is also teaching with us. Daily operations are vast and all year long, please check out our Meet the Team page!
What are your hours of operation?
Varies according to classes and private events.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That they are cooking! It's so amazing to hear from kids who were in our first kid-chef camps and who are passing along their skills now to their kids! We are also doing a series on our Taste the Adventure Alumni, "Where are they now?"
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
"A good many impossible things happen before breakfast." Walt Disney.
